I would have to agree with this video. I think that the majority of people now a days are all too consumed with technology. I see this on a daily basis, especially with my younger nieces and nephews, as well as my own friends. We have gotten to a point in society where everyone is completely reliant on their cell phones, laptops, and tablets. I hardly see anyone spending time outdoors anymore, and i believe technology is one main factor in how humans treat the earth now as well. Because of technology, we are all able to communicate with each other effectively and quickly, and that is great. However, I think we as humans have taken it to an entire new level and that we are slowly becoming robots.

What is a 'splash page'? Look it up. Explain what they are and how they are used. Find an example of a splash page in Google Images. Save the image to you computer and then upload it to your blog post. Hint - see below.

A splash page is a kind of teaser that appears before someone actually proceeds to opening up the main site. The site's owner would use this as a teaser to promote, and get clientele interested. Some of the splash pages can bring you directly to the main site, or require another link to be clicked before entering.

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!

My spring break was fantastic! I went to the Virgin Islands with my two best friends and had the time of my life. We went to the beach, we went out on my dad's boat, and we went shopping quite a bit. I learned how to paddle board, and it was a lot more difficult than it seems. I got to explore the island. Just about every day we went to the private beach in my dad's complex. I definitely got sun-burnt. But I loved it. After I got back in town, this past weekend has been hectic seeing all my friends and family up north. Overall, my spring break was just what I needed.

After reading below to see where you should be on your product website - are you caught up? What helps you stay caught up in class? Do you like having small checkpoints? Are you behind? If so, what are you going to do to get caught up?

I am slightly behind due to an absence on Friday of last week. I am going to work quickly, but I was already ahead last class period that I was here. I do like having small check points, it makes it easier to understand what I need to do and what I need to get done.

What idea do you have that is going to make you product website different, unique or unlike anyone else? If you're answer is you don't know - it's time to start THINKING. Explain your idea.

My product website is actually going to be my own products. Everything that will be featured, I have made by hand. Another difference is that I am going to give the consumers a chance to "make their own" piece of hemp jewelry, where they can pick out the type and color of hemp, the style of the hemp, and the beads they want used.

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

What product have you decided to feature/sell on your product website? Explain why you've chosen this product and remember, the sky is the limit on this project!

I have decided to sell Hemp Jewelry. My sister and I started making the jewelry about 5 years ago. So I will be selling my own jewelry, made by hand.

What are three things you learned about color theory and web design  yesterday? Go in to detail.

Color can help uphold a certain image or reputation for a website.

Tuesday, February 25, 2014

What effect can a color scheme have on a website? How can it make a website better? How can it make a website worse? Explain why color is important.

A good color scheme can make a website better by adding a different element. If the color scheme is bad or has too much going on, it can give you a headache. However, a good color scheme can make the website more appealing to the eyes.

What was your takeaway from this Travel Site? What did you learn that you didn't know before? How will the knowledge of how we built this site help you improve your future websites?

I learned how to use photoshop during this assignment which is awesome because I think photoshop is a good resource to have and be able to use. I learned everything I did, I learned how to scale images, the difference between PNG and PSD images. This will help my future websites because I have different ways to make websites and use images.

I know absolutely nothing about Photoshop. I've never used it before. However, I do know that you can use it to change images in many ways, like crop them, change the background, colors, and even the people in the photo. I'm a newbie for sure.

Think about how a user (me or anyone else using your site) might function and interact with your site. What are some important functional features to make your website easy to work with? How can you make it easier for the user and not frustrating? Explain why this is so important.

I have specific words linked up to different pages, and I think that makes things a little easier. I'd say everything is already pretty easy to work with.

What are your thoughts on HTML code? Did you enjoy the coding activity? Do you feel like you learned anything? Explain yourself.

I think I learned quite a bit about HTML codes. I actually enjoyed the activity, because it made me feel really intelligent. It's a little confusing at first, but I think once I learn and really grasp the codes, I think I'll be able to understand it better. It's not too incredibly difficult to figure out, just a little confusing at first.

Overall, my weekend was pretty good!

Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted it, I should be able to use it."

If there is an image on the internet, then yes, you can use it. However, if you use the image, then you MUST cite it, and cite it correctly. If you do not cite the image, then no you can not use it, that would be plagiarism. But, if there is an image on the internet and you use it and cite it correctly, then yes it is "fair game".

January 13

What do you know about plagiarism? What do you know about plagiarism on the internet? Do web design, the internet and plagiarism all effect each other? Explain.

Plagiarism is using someone else's work or information from a book or website, without permission or correct citation. Plagiarism is very common on the internet because there are many websites you can use to access other people's work and use it as your own and/or download it. Plagiarism can also be identified as turning in past assignments for newer ones, such as a high school assignment being turned in as a college assignment a couple of years later. However, there are websites, such as turnitin.com which search uploaded documents with other documents on the web site and link them together, giving the author and the professor/teacher a clear percentage of how much of the paper was similar to other works. Yes, web design, the internet and plagiarism do all affect each other. The internet has made plagiarism very easy to do, with websites specifically for using other people's works.

What do you already know about web design? How it works? Programs you can use? Tools that exist? Anything.

There are html codes, blogger.com and google.com are websites. godaddy.com helps people create websites.  I don't know a whole lot about web designs at all.
